Kids Konnected Annual Gala

Saturday, October 13th 6:00 PM

On October 14 2011 Kids Konnected held it’s annual fundraising gala at the Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano.  ”Hot Havana Nights” was our most successful gala yet.  We were able to raise $24,000 through ticket and table sales as well as through our silent auction.  Our annual Giving Hearts drive took place that evening as well.  Yard House generously matches any Kids Konnected supporter’s monthly donation of $25 with $25 a month to Yard House.  Kids Konnected had a record sign up year with approximately 127 people committing to donate $25 a month for 12 months to Kids Konnected.  This is an annual earning of $38,100!

Some highlights of the evening were an appearance from actor Dean Norris, currently known for his role on Breaking Bad, a Salsa Dancing demonstration and lesson by dancers from the Cheryl Burke Dance Studio in Laguna Niguel, cigar rolling demonstration by The Cigar Guys, and a gin bar by Nolet Spirits.  Honorees of the night were Dr. Steven Sorenson for his outstanding commitment to Kids Konnected and Katie Roesch, our Youth Leader of the Year.

At Kids Konnected, we know that cancer affects the entire family. Each of your children will experience your diagnosis in a different way and with different feelings. Cancer is not an easy subject to talk about and many parents try to avoid the topic in fear that they will scare their children. At Kids Konnected, our approach is to provide a supportive environment to the children so that they can share their feelings alongside other children going through the same thing. When a cancer touches a parent you know, it can be challenging to know what you can do to help. At Kids Konnected, we provide support, education, community and understanding to children who have a parent with cancer or have a parent that has died from cancer. We provide custom care packages for the children, resources, support groups, bereavement workshops, summer camps and special events.
