Kids Konnected Gala Raises $100,000 for Kids Cancer Support
(Laguna Hills) Kids Konnected, a national cancer support organization presented its 9th Annual Founders Gala, a Harvest Moon Over Tuscany on Saturday, October 27, 2008 at the Hyatt Garden Pavilion, in Irvine. 280 guests were greeted with strolling violins and mandolins, and treated to hor d’ oeuvres and Red Ruby Cuvee sparkling wine as they strolled the outdoor marketplace silent auction. The dinner featured a taste of a Tuscany with passed antipasto, raviolis, with sirloin and mushroom risotto. A tiramisu with raspberry and chocolate drizzle topped the night.
Yard House CEO and President Harald Herrmann and ZMI Real Estate Partner Steve Zotovich were each honored with the 2007 From the Heart Award, 16 year old Courtney Poore of La Habra was honored with the Youth Leadership of the Year Award, and Volunteer of the Year was awarded to the mother and son team of Carrie & Riley Tendler of Laguna Hills.
KDOC TV news anchor, Nancy Aziz was the Mistress of Ceremonies and showcased the new Kids Konnected video that she produced. Auctioneer Bubba Jackson from JAZZ 88 FM introduced Jeff Carter, CFO of South Coast Winery Resort & Spa who dazzled the audience by donating a villa night and private dinner for 4 with wine master John McPherson at their Temecula Vineyard. The Oreo Divas and Band kept the crowd dancing right into midnight.
“We were so pleased to see the generous support of the community and the work of so many dedicated volunteers”, said Event Chair Shelby Crist. Executive Director, Dave Peters announced that over $100,000 was raised.
Founded in 1993, Kids Konnected, developed from the premise that when a parent is diagnosed with cancer the entire family is affected and the needs of the children must be addressed. Kids Konnected provides counseling, summer camps and

bereavement workshops to kids and teens who have a parent with cancer or lost a parent to cancer.
