Support Group for Kids who have a parent or other loved one with Cancer.

When: Wednesdays
September 15 ,22, 29,
October 13, 20, 27,
November 10 & 17th

Where: The Sobrato Community Conference Center

Time: 6:15pm to 7:45pm (pizza and social time first, then group)

Sessions will include:
Talking about feelings such as sad, scared, mad… happy & hopeful, too!
How can you take care of yourself when you’re feeling down?
Defensive “masks” we use to cover up our feelings
What is cancer?
Understanding your parent’s treatment better
Plenty of time for questions to be answered in a safe, supportive environment
Artistic & creative activities
Topics vary depending on participant’s needs

Final session will be a Potluck Celebration and “Graduation” for all participants.

Group is led by Marté J. Matthews, previously a health educator with the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Information Service and currently a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT 45249) with experience running children’s groups since 2002 and specialized certification from Children’s Treehouse Foundation in Denver, CO.
