For the past 15 years Kids Konnected has provided education and support for kids who have a parent with cancer or a parent who has died from cancer. This journey is often most difficult for teens who don’t always feel comfortable talking about their feelings and experiences and often feel isolated and alone. Kids Konnected provides support groups and written materials to give teens comfort and help them know they are not alone.

This book was written to help children understand their parent’s cancer and for parents to understand how their child is feeling about the cancer. Moxie, a blue raccoon, lives up to her name- in this story about facing difficulty with spirit and courage. She also sees this in her friends, Kelly and Jon, who are learning how to do the same through the bond of having a parent with cancer. Within the book is a journal “written” by Jon when he found out his mother had cancer. Inside Jon’s journal are insights and examples which provide an easier way to explain cancer, as written from a child’s point-of-view. There are sections for you and your child to fill out and go over together. It is designed so that children dealing with their parent’s cancer realize that they are not alone. It gives a clear explanation of what cancer is in a way that kids can understand. Kids Konnected has been helping children for more than 15 years. We have taken many of the common questions asked by kids and parents and incorporated answers to those questions into the storyline of this book! A great book and story for children and families facing cancer.
